Days 3, 4, and 5? Yea. They happened. Nothing particularly exciting any of the days. Primarily a lot of shopping, lunches with S and attempts at cleaning up my house. Which, by the way, is a total lost cause. I would have to say the highlight of the previous three days was getting my nails done again. About a month ago I ripped off all my acrylic nails and attempted to go natural. Yea. That didn't last long. Too much maintenance. I gave in yesterday and now my lovely permanent french manicure is back. It's the little things in life that make me happy.
So, lets talk about today. Today was the best day of this vacation yet. Last week I planned a beach day with C and B and the weather held out for us. We got up ridiculously early (alarm set for 6:50am and woke up at 7:00am) and gathered ourselves together. We were on the road by 8:15am with WaWa subs in the cooler and a trunk full of chairs, blankets, and towels.
Getting to the beach was easy and we were lotioned up and ready for some sun by 9:45am. I have to say that the new Hawaiian Tropic spray on sunscreen I bought is pretty good. It smells nice and doesn't feel gross. The beach was chilly since it was windy and only in the high 70s. The water was suitable for penguins and no one else. Oh, and we got to watch one of the lifeguards pretend to drown herself about 10 times. They were doing drills all morning and all I kept thinking about was the shrinkage the "rescuing" guards were probably experiencing. Brrr. We had our picnic lunch, attempted some napping, and spent some time freezing our toes off. We packed it in around 3:30pm. Driving home was more eventful. A wrong turn out of the park, a u-turn on a crazy steep street, waiting for a draw bridge to open/close, a detour due to a fire, and a Macy's delivery truck coming within 5 inches of my front bumper were all obstacles along the way.
By the time we landed back home all I wanted was a shower and a nap. I only got one of those things...a 30 minute shower. Shortly after feeling human again I planned a dinner/movie date with C. I hit the road to her house and then we went and grabbed some yummy meatball subs for dinner. After unsuccessful bargaining with her brother we were banished to the bedroom to watch our movie. We set up a carpet picnic and watched The Invention of Lying. Decent movie. I drove home in a daze and here I am pretty much. I'm heading for bed soon because I have a busy day planned tomorrow.
